This incredible property has been named "Yumba" by a family friend. Yumba means “home” in his Birri Gubba language. He said he always felt at home in this house in front of the ocean.
Set over 3 levels, this magnificent beach house has extraordinary front row ocean views. The constant theme of the home is watching the tides coming in and going out, revealing rocks and seaweed, witnessing the sea in all its moods, maybe spotting a dolphin or two playing in the waves or a whale migrating in the Winter. It is sublime.
On the lower level is the entrance with laundry, bathroom and powder room. The pool room has ocean views and sliding doors opening on to the lower deck.
Up the stairs to the middle level is where you will be in thrall of the view, always. There are multiple choices of where to place yourself, in the corner watching the world and the beach below, or on the front deck watching the ocean or, on the back deck overlooking the green hills of State Forest. The kitchen is well equipped and has a servery opening out on to the back deck with a rustic outdoor dining table and BBQ. There is a wood fired stove inside but you may not bother as there is hydronic heating, the best kind of heat. The Master bedroom is also on this level with adjoining bathroom. There are split systems for cooling but the sea breeze usually makes these unnecessary.
Up the stairs are two more bedrooms both with King size beds and ensuites.
The furnishing in the house is eclectic as the owners are travellers and have collected some special pieces. The art work is nearly all original and features some wonderful Australian artists.
There is a tennis court - not the best A grade pitch but fun to have a friendly game.
The beach is a two minute walk and there is an outdoor shower to lose the sand before coming in.
Aireys Inlet features the pub and some wonderful restaurants and cafes with a French patisserie and the famous Top Shop.
The hardest thing about this house is leaving it…..
PLEASE NOTE - this house is on tank water and has a septic tank, so some care needs to be taken with water and waste.
